High School Teacher Expands Talents to Local Store

A new store in Collinsville recently opened its doors to the community with their grand opening last weekend. Local Bee farmers, Carrie and Ash Winfield, are the proud owners of this popular local shop, Farm Hippie, located in the heart of downtown Collinsville. When asked how they thought of the idea for their new business, Ash said, "Well, its been about a year-long process. We started with bee farming and when that business started to grow we wanted to start a farmers market." After searching the town for the perfect place they finally found their building located at 1117 West Main. After word got around, and after a lot of searching, they finally found their vendors. One vendor is Collinsville's very own.

Taylor Kite, owner of Town Square Sweets, is an art teacher and also instructs the yearbook and leadership classes at the high school. When she heard about this new business coming to town, it sparked her interest and she decided to reach out to the owners. Taylor and her family has been making fudge for as long as she can remember. "I thought it’d be a perfect opportunity for my husband, my daughter, and I to spend time together doing something we love," said Taylor. She and her family spend Sunday afternoons in the kitchen together making new batches of fudge for the week to follow. Upcoming flavors that you can expect to see soon from Town Square Sweets are Maple, Gingerbread, Snickerdoodle, Candy Corn, Eggnog, Candy Cane, and much more. You can visit Farm Hippie during the following hours:
